What is CBT?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a therapeutic method that explores how thoughts, feelings and behaviours interact to maintain a problem. CBT is generally considered the ‘gold-standard’ treatment for anxiety and mood disorders in young people.

During treatment, we take a closer look at the presenting symptoms, exploring how these might be triggered and maintained. We then think about how we can work on overcoming the problem together, based on CBT principles. We try to work towards meaningful and attainable goals throughout treatment, monitoring progress along the way. I use a creative range of methods and have experience in adapting treatment for young people with ADHD and ASD.
